Day #3 - Learning with Photos

Day#3 Handouts

Personal Photo Description, Q&A
Students bring at least five photos of things that are important to them. Students are provided with some basic photo description language (e.g. This photo shows…., The person (next to me, on the left, wearing the red shirt, etc.) is ….,  It’s important to me because…).   With partners or in groups, they take turns sharing one photo at a time.  After each description their partner(s) ask questions. Depending on the level, language prompts for questions can be provided

Variation #1:  Photo Detective One student shows a photo to other group members without offering any description.  Group members make guesses and describe the ‘when’, ‘what’, ‘where’, etc. of the photo in as much detail as possible.  The photo owner then reveals which guesses were correct or not.

Variation#2:  Speed Photostory Based on a 4-3-2 style activity.   Students choose one photo to describe, without interruption or questions  They describe it for 2 minutes.  They change partners and describe the same photo in 90 seconds.  They change partners one more time and describe the same photo in 60 seconds.
